Solène Weinachter and Matthias Strahm shortlisted for awards

We’re really excited to announce that Solène Weinachter  has been shortlisted for the Sunday Herald Scottish Culture Award for ‘Best Dance Performer’ and Matthias Strahm, Designer for Plan B for Utopia and The North  has been nominated in the ‘Behind the Scenes’ category.

Joan says  “I am delighted that Matthias’ work behind the scenes is being recognised. His designs play an extremely important part in the audience’s experience and create a visual and sensory world that the dancers can inhabit. As a long-standing collaborator, he has a deep and nuanced understanding of my creative process and his work is crucial to realise my artistic vision and take it further”.

“Solène utterly deserves this recognition of her work as an independent dance artist in Scotland, not only for her outstanding performance work with Joan Clevillé Dance but through her contribution to the Scottish dance ecology through improvisation collective Collective Endevours, of which she is a co-founder. Solène’s skill, openness and personable nature inspires a new generation of dancers, particularly female dancers, helping  them to  develop their own creative voice and autonomy, to stay open and curious to new developments in the art form, and to be generous with audiences and colleagues.”

The winners will be announced at an award ceremony on 12 July 2018.
