Creative Learning
haring and learning lies at the heart of Joan Clevillé Dance. We aspire to create work that inspires and empowers our audiences, giving a new perspective to familiar problems, bringing creativity and imagination to the foreground of people’s lives.
As part of the 2018/19 tours of Plan B for Utopia and The North, we presented a wide range of wrap-around activities and creative opportunities, exploring themes in the works and offering a chance to learn about the company’s artistic practice. We plan to widen the scope of our Creative Learning activity for Antigone, Interruped. Check back soon for more details.
We are not here to tick boxes. We are passionate about meeting people, making connections and building up relationships. We have put together a wide range of engagement opportunities, and whatever your age, ability, level of experience, or interest, we have something for you and your group.
I appreciated the thought, care and attention Joan gave to the planning of workshops for our evening groups (…) The movement material Joan selected gave great, appropriate challenges for the youth groups and the performance was wonderfully original and well received by our audiences.
Dawn Hartley, Education Manager, Scottish Dance Theatre
Big thank you for a really great week of classes! Class was so diverse and a great challenge in many ways. I have taken a lot from this week and want to thank you for all your individual feedback.
Class Participant
I have observed Joan nurturing the next generation with updated and relevant information, being a link between our College, the community and the profession.
Lee Lappin, Creative Director of Performing Arts at Scottish School of Contemporary Dance / Dundee and Angus College
Joan engaged with participants at a profound level. His devising process responded directly to material created by the participants whilst supporting them in an innovative and challenging artistic enquiry that was communicated sensitively and accessibly.
